The 11 AM Blessing I Didn’t Get Today

I have to break the habit of watching reels before going to bed. My books sit neatly on the nightstand, but somehow I still end up scrolling Facebook.

So here came one video: “If you’re watching this today, it’s no coincidence. The universe has chosen you.” I immediately glanced at the message icon, 300 plus already invested. A few hundred others, like me, pausing out of curiosity.

The message said that on May 1st at 11 am, something would happen. A call, a message, a person. A long-awaited blessing, so they say. Great. I registered that in my brain and went off to sleep.

I’m not naive or stupid, just the forever curious me who gets hooked. At work today, since 10:30 am, my eyes kept going back and forth, from the time on my phone to my monitor. Ten minutes to 11, I told myself, “I’m not going to miss this,” and stayed alert.

And well… it’s 11:08 now. Guess what? I got distracted. I should mention I was actually working, but let’s go with distractions of the day.

So what happened to the blessing that was promised? I would’ve been thrilled with a call or text from someone I haven’t heard from in a while. A surprise promotion would’ve made my day. I didn’t buy a lottery ticket, so can’t say much there. But hey, I deserve something, don’t I?

Maybe the fault is in my stars now. I failed to watch the clock turn 11. Maybe something incognito passed me by.

Alas, it’s all gone, my moment of glory and euphoria. Back to work, back to my usual self.

Another day, another time maybe, my 11 am will come.

Until then, I’ll stay curious and amused.

On a serious note, some of our best moments don’t come when we’re waiting. They catch us off guard. I’ve seen that happen more than once.
